Wine making in Türkiye
With over 3,088 square miles or 8,000 square kilometres, Türkiye is the 4th largest producers of grapes in the world.
History of wine making in Türkiye goes back to 6000 years, however, modern era wine making started in 1925.
Türkiye’s topography allows production of a variety of grapes. Predominantly produced in Thrace, a coastal region along the Sea of Marmara. Other concentration areas for grape production are the Aegean coastal city of Izmir, and southern town of Çanakkale.
